Will it fit, and will I still be able to walk through it? That is the question a sliding glass door asks, and almost nothing on a product page answers it. Nine listings from three brands (four from Two Pages, three from Half Price Drapes, two from Neutral Curtains) were read on their own product pages on 22 August 2026, to work out what each says it can cover, what it costs you in doorway when open, and what the price includes. On three of the nine, the width question has no published answer at all.
A patio door asks one question first, and it is not about fabric
A window is a hole in a wall. A sliding door is a hole you walk through, several times a day, usually carrying something. That reverses the order of the decisions: three physical facts come first, and each can rule out a whole category before colour is discussed.
The first is the width of the opening. Six feet of slider is 72 inches of glass, eight feet is 96, a wide doorwall runs to 144 and beyond: ordinary numbers for a door, unusual ones for a window covering.
The second is the handle. Anything mounted in front of the glass has to clear it, and one listing of the nine publishes the figure that decides it: the Two Pages ripple fold track projects 3 1/2 inches from the wall.
The third is the path you walk. Whatever covers the door has to get out of its own way, and the space it takes when open is a cost almost nobody prices.

Read that ladder from the top and the ranking is not the one the product names suggest. The widest published span belongs to the Lark Motorized Curtain Tracks from Two Pages, sold in three fixed lengths: 122 in, 200 3/4 in and 279 1/2 in, the ordered length including 4 inches added by the hooks. Then the Two Pages custom curtain, made from 12 to 240 inches wide, then the Half Price Drapes rod set, telescoping from 52 to 144 inches.
Well below all three sits the one product here actually sold for sliding doors. Two Pages describes the Lay Natural Woven Wood Panel Track Blinds as designed for wide windows and sliding glass doors, and their published track width stops at 102 inches overall. A six-foot slider fits comfortably, an eight-foot slider fits, a twelve-foot doorwall does not, and no fabric choice changes that.
Half Price Drapes answers with a fixed number rather than a range: its Extra Wide Performance Linen Hotel Blackout Curtain comes in one width, 100 inches, in four lengths, and so does its extra wide sheer. Either way, how to measure an opening before you order is worth settling before you look at a single fabric.
Three of the nine listings publish no maximum width at all: both Neutral Curtains products and the Two Pages ripple fold drapery. One of the three is named Extra Wide.
The width nobody bills you for: what the covering eats when it is open
Every covering parks somewhere when it is open, and on a doorway that parking space comes out of the gap you walk through. Exactly one listing puts a number on it. Two Pages publishes a panel stack width of 10 1/2 to 36 1/2 inches with three panels, and 7 3/4 to 35 1/2 inches with four, at 3 inches of overlap per panel. On a 102-inch track at the top of that range, more than a third of the opening stays covered when the blind is fully open.
Neutral Curtains publishes the vertical equivalent on its bamboo shade: a minimum stack height of 7 inches when fully raised, varying with style, size and fabric. Same cost, measured in the other direction.
The other seven publish nothing: not the Two Pages custom curtain, not either ripple fold, not either Half Price Drapes panel. A stack-back figure is not hard to produce, and its absence is the most common gap on this page. We are not estimating it.

Grouped by what each brand publishes about the movement rather than by what the category is called, the nine fall into two families and one gap.
Panels that slide sideways is where the doorway solutions live. The Lay panel track moves flat panels along an aluminium ceiling track with a 49 3/4 inch wand, stacking left or right. The ripple fold drapery draws panels along a wall-mounted traverse track on white PTFE carriers spaced 2 1/8 inches. The Lark track pulls two panels by motor, and the brand is specific: only two curtain panels, two-way opening only, a 110 lb weight capacity, and clearance of 4 inches for a single track, 7 7/8 inches for a double. If that is your direction, what motorising a track actually costs is its own question.
Fabric that folds and stacks covers the Neutral bamboo shade, lowered from the top or raised from the bottom. It is a shade answer to a door problem, which works when the door is more window than doorway. The trade-offs run through roller and woven wood shades, mechanism by mechanism.
The gap is the Two Pages custom curtain and the Neutral ripple fold, whose pages describe how the fabric is made and barely how it moves. Neutral publishes the hook spacing (roller hooks 2 1/2 inches apart, every 8 grids) and never describes the track named in its own title.

Two Pages sells a page called Custom Curtains for Sliding Glass Doors. It is a made-to-measure curtain: three orderable fabrics (Liz at $59.99, Jawara and Patti at $79.99), hooks included, rings and rod excluded. Its SKU is T-CUSTOM15, the same SKU carried by the merchant’s ripple fold drapery. Nothing on the page is specific to a sliding door except the title and a line listing applications. It is a good wide curtain. It is not a sliding-door mechanism. The same page describes five fabrics (Liz at 350 gsm, Jawara at 274, Patti at 248, Isabella at 500, Birkin at 300) while the configurator offers three.

Extra Wide means two different things across two merchants: a precise, fixed 100 inches at Half Price Drapes, and no published figure at all at Neutral Curtains, on a bamboo shade whose name begins with the words.
And with Track is a title, not a specification. The Neutral ripple fold publishes no track length, no track material, no kit contents, and no statement about whether the track sits in the base price or among the add-ons. The brand prints its own pricing rule, Total Price = Base Price + Add-ons, which is more honesty than most, and exactly why the track cannot be assumed to be included.
None of this is dishonest. It is an unregulated vocabulary, used by three merchants in three directions.

A configurator floor is what Two Pages posts: $59.99 for the custom curtain on its cheapest fabric, $149.99 per panel for the panel track, $89.99 for the ripple fold on the cheapest of twelve fabrics. The same drapery is $119.99 in Liz and $159.99 in Karin wool. A base price plus add-ons is what Neutral Curtains posts, and says so: $98.99 per panel on the ripple fold across all 38 colours, $65.00 on the cheapest of six bamboo collections where the dearest is $125.00. A price by length at a fixed width is the Half Price Drapes model: $95.14 for the 84-inch blackout panel, $111.59 at 120 inches, and $42.33 to $51.02 for the sheer. A finished-product price is the Lark track at $205.99, lowest of six variants reaching $317.89, panels not included. A complete kit price is the rod set at $52.49.
Comparing the $59.99 to the $149.99 would set a fabric panel with no way of hanging it against a complete sliding mechanism. The same logic runs through what a made-to-measure starting price covers.
Two of the anchors here are not discounts
Both Half Price Drapes panels carry a permanent anchor above the selling price ($172.99 to $179.99 on the blackout, $72.99 to $80.99 on the sheer) under a standing discount badge. The Neutral bamboo shade carries a stranger one: a single $79.99 anchor shown identically on all six collections, while the prices run from $65.00 to $125.00. On four of the six, the anchor sits below the price it is meant to discount. Neither is relayed here as a saving, because neither is one.

A curtain is not a way of covering a door; a curtain plus something to draw it along is. The nine listings split cleanly on who supplies the second half.
The Two Pages ripple fold drapery is the only fabric product here whose posted price contains the mechanism. The traverse rod kit is included (rod pieces, carriers, finials, installation hardware, plus overlapping carriers for Snap Tape pairs or a wand hanger for Belt Hook) and the delivered track length is tailored to the finished width of the order. The track is 1-inch aluminium, 3 1/2 inch projection, 4 1/4 by 1 7/8 inch brackets, fullness built into the make-up.

The Two Pages custom curtain includes hooks and excludes rings and rod. The Lark track is the mirror image: track and motor in the price, panels sold separately, gateway not included. The Neutral bamboo shade includes its installation hardware. If you are budgeting the second half separately, what actually ships with a curtain rod is the line item people forget.
Half Price Drapes sells that second half as its own product. The Glass Sphere Nickel Extendable Metal Rod Set is a complete kit at $52.49 and, at 52 to 144 inches of telescoping span, it is the only published width on this page that reaches a twelve-foot opening without a made-to-measure order.

Three absences matter more than the rest on a doorway.
No weight capacity on the manual hardware. The rod set spans up to 144 inches and publishes neither a load rating nor how many brackets are in the box, while the Lark motorised track publishes 110 lb without being asked. Two blackout panels at 100 inches wide are not light, and a 1-inch telescoping rod at full extension is where sag lives. The listing does not say, and we are not estimating it.
No maximum width on three listings: both Neutral products and the Two Pages ripple fold drapery. On a page about doors, that is the first number a buyer needs.
No fabric weight on either Half Price Drapes panel, and no fibre percentage at all on the extra wide sheer, whose opacity the brand describes as 20% sheer opacity, unlined and without backing. That is Half Price Drapes’ figure, not a measurement made here.
One divergence is worth naming rather than resolving. The Neutral ripple fold publishes 80% polyester and 20% linen at 350 gsm, in colour codes 1908-0 to 1908-37; Two Pages publishes 10% linen and 90% polyester at 350 gsm for Liz in the same code family. Two merchants, one apparent fabric, two published compositions, and neither is presented here as the true one.
Two things a sliding door does that a window does not
It leaks light at the edges, and it makes you order smaller than you measure.
Two Pages states the first plainly on the panel track: the product is primarily decorative and not designed as a blackout solution, and the panel structure may leave approximately 1 inch of gap at the left and right edges. That is a brand describing the limits of its own product on the page where it sells it, and it is more useful than any opacity percentage.
The second is ordering arithmetic. Two Pages asks for the window width minus 1/2 inch and the height minus 1 1/2 inches, noting the shade may still hang about 3/4 inch lower. Neutral Curtains takes 3/8 inch off the measured width on an inside mount and will skip it if you leave a note on the order. On top sit the published tolerances: 1 inch of length variation at Two Pages, 0.4 inch at Neutral.
Add them up and a sliding door is where half an inch of intent becomes two inches of reality, in the same direction every time: smaller than the glass.
Three doors, three answers
A six-foot slider you walk through every day. The Lay panel track is the only product here built for the job, and a 72-inch opening sits comfortably inside its 24 to 102 inch range. Budget from $149.99 per panel as a configurator floor, accept about an inch of light at each edge, and check the stack: 10 1/2 to 36 1/2 inches stays covered when it is open. Note what the warranty upsells cost, too: $69 for three years, $169 for the limited lifetime option, more than the product’s own starting price.
A twelve-foot doorwall. The panel track is out at 102 inches, and the two remaining routes are very different purchases. A Two Pages made-to-measure curtain runs to 240 inches of ordered width, but its fabric is 112 inches wide, so past that the panel is seamed and the page says nothing about where. Or the rod set at $52.49, spanning 52 to 144 inches on a 1-inch rod with no published load rating, worth weighing before hanging two blackout panels from it.
A door you open twice a year. Treat it as a large window. The Half Price Drapes extra wide panel is a fixed 100 inches in four lengths from $95.14, 100% polyester despite the Performance Linen name, the blackout carried by the fabric rather than a lining. No configurator, no track, no stack calculation.

Whichever door you have, put to the listing the two questions most of them dodge: how wide can you go, and how much of my doorway is still covered when this is open? Three of these nine pages cannot answer the first. Seven cannot answer the second.
