Most curtains are sold against a window. The window has a width and a height, the building decided both a long time ago, and every listing you read is built on that assumption.
A patio is not a window. It is a gap between two posts, under a beam, open on at least one side, and nothing about it was sized for cloth. Indoors a span that wide would be a patio door, and how wide, open spans are treated indoors is a settled question. Out here the two brands we follow that sell outdoor curtains answer the same opening from opposite ends: one sells a single fixed width of 50 inches that you multiply until the gap is covered, the other will cut a panel up to 240 inches wide but refuses to go past 100 inches of drop.
Neither of them is wrong. But anyone shopping for outdoor curtains for a patio or a porch will run into a shape of opening that neither one covers, and only a measurement tells you which side of that line you are on. That is the argument of this page: outdoors, the word on the label describes the cloth, and the published size range decides whether you can buy it at all.
Indoors You Buy for a Window. Outdoors You Buy for a Bay
Start with what each listing will actually sell you.
Half Price Drapes publishes one outdoor line, the Villanova collection, in five colourways of the same fabric. Every one of them is 50 inches wide. Not a range, not a minimum: one width, and the only choice left is length. Two Pages sells one outdoor fabric, Heck, listed three times under three different headers, and it is made to measure from 12 to 240 inches wide.
Put a real bay against those two numbers. A pergola bay of 10 feet is 120 inches. On the ready made side, that is four 50 inch panels and three meeting edges, and outdoors a meeting edge is not a detail: it is where the wind gets a grip. On the made to measure side, it is one panel ordered at 120 inches, which clears the width but crosses another line, because Two Pages publishes a fabric width of 110 inches and warns that seam placement varies on panels ordered wider than that.
So even at the easy end of the problem there is no answer without a trade. The useful move is to stop treating the patio as one opening: it is already divided by its own posts, and the gap between two posts is the unit both listings can price.

A different arrangement
One panel per bay, not one curtain per patio
Treat the gap between two posts as the unit: one panel per bay, tied back to its own post, instead of one long run of fabric across the whole opening.
A patio or a porch is already divided by its structure, and the posts give the fabric somewhere to gather and something to tie to. Dividing by bay means each side can be opened on its own as the sun moves round, the stack never sits in a doorway, and a single damaged panel is replaced rather than the whole run. It also keeps every panel inside the width a single listing can actually supply, which is where a continuous run usually falls apart.
A way of laying out what is already in the room, not a shopping list. Nothing new has to be ordered for it.

The Drop Is Where Both of Them Stop
Width is the problem people expect. Height is the one that actually stops the order.
Two Pages will cut a panel 240 inches wide and will not cut one longer than 100 inches. That is not a soft recommendation buried in a size guide. Type 108 into the length field and the configurator answers, in as many words, that the length must be between 20 and 100, and why ready made lengths stop where they do is the same story indoors. Half Price Drapes does list 108 and 120 inch lengths, which looks like the answer, except that on 12 September 2026 both of those lengths were out of stock in all five colourways, and the size selector on the product page offered only 84 and 96.

A porch ceiling or a pergola beam at 9 feet is 108 inches off the deck. Read those two envelopes again and you will see that a 9 foot structure sits outside what either brand can currently deliver. You are left with two moves, and both cost something. Drop the rod below the beam, which shortens the opening you were trying to fill and puts the fixing into whatever is available lower down. Or hang the longest panel either brand will sell, which under a 108 inch beam stops at least eight inches short of the deck, and that gap is exactly what wind uses to lift a panel from underneath.
None of that is a fault in either product. It is a mismatch between how outdoor structures are built and how curtain listings are sized, and it is invisible until you have already chosen a colour.

Lowering the fixing raises the next question, which is what the panel hangs on. Half Price Drapes is unusually specific here: the eyelets have an inside diameter of 1 5/8 inches, and the brand advises against a rod thicker than 1 1/2 inches. Indoors that is a note about ease of sliding. Across an open bay it is a ceiling on stiffness, because rod diameter is most of what keeps a long rod from bowing. That is the whole of what a rod has to carry over a long span, except that outdoors the thing pulling on it is not the cloth but the wind in the cloth.

Waterproof, Water Repellent: Only One of These Words Has a Number Behind It
Once the size is settled, the label starts to matter, and this is where the two catalogues part company.
Two Pages calls the Heck fabric waterproof. Its own feature list says the fabric helps protect against rain and moisture while resisting mildew and fading. It publishes no standard behind that, and no rating. Half Price Drapes never uses the word waterproof on the Villanova page at all. It says water repellent, and then it prints the number: an AATCC 22 water repellency rating of 80% to 90%. On the same page it also gives a light fastness figure, an AATCC 16E rating of 3.0 to 4.0 for up to 500 hours.

So the stronger adjective is the one with nothing under it, and the weaker adjective is the one you can actually check.
The difference that matters on a covered porch is duration, and neither word states it. A repellency rating describes how much water the surface turns away, not how long it keeps turning it away, so a figure of 80% to 90% still leaves the duration question open. An unrated waterproof claim leaves the same question open and gives you nothing to reason from at all. On a west facing terrace that takes weather sideways, that is the gap between a limit you can plan around and a limit you will discover.
Neither brand is lying. They are using an unregulated vocabulary in opposite directions, and only one of them shows its working.
200 gsm, 240 gsm, and the Load Nobody Publishes
Both of these panels publish a weight, which is more than most curtain listings manage, and reading a fabric by its weight before its name works outdoors as it does indoors. Half Price Drapes gives 200 gsm of spun polyester, unlined. Two Pages gives 240 gsm of acrylic, unlined, the same colour and texture on both faces.
Forty grams per square metre is a real difference and a modest one. At 240 gsm a panel hangs straighter and holds a fold rather than flaring at the hem, and because the Two Pages cloth is finished identically front and back, it reads as deliberate from the garden side as well as from the seating side. That matters outdoors in a way it never does on a window: a patio curtain is seen from both sides all day. At 200 gsm with an unlined single face, the panel is lighter on the rod and moves sooner in a breeze, which reads as movement in summer and as a panel that will not stay put once the weather turns.
Published weight, and what holds the cloth

Then there is the part neither of them prints. Outdoors, the load on the fixing is not the weight of the curtain, it is the wind, and a flat unlined panel is a sail. Neither brand publishes a wind rating, a load figure or a fixing recommendation. Half Price Drapes publishes no opacity value for this fabric at all. Two Pages publishes three percentages, a shading rate of 80% to 92%, up to 98% of UV blocked and the waterproof claim itself, without naming a single standard behind any of them.
That is three blanks in the only two catalogues that sell outdoor fabric, and the first of them sits on the one condition every outdoor opening has. We are not filling them in. A weight in grams tells you how a panel hangs at rest; it tells you nothing about how it behaves in a gust, and the listing that would know has not said.

A measure worth keeping

Outside, the load is the wind, not the curtain
Fix into the post, the beam or the rafter itself, add a centre support on any span over six feet, and leave a way to tie the panel back.
Indoors a bracket carries a static weight that only moves when someone pulls the curtain. Outdoors the same bracket carries a sail. A gust loads a hanging panel far harder than its own weight ever will, and it loads it sideways, which is the direction a screw in a soffit board resists worst. A pergola or a porch gives you structural timber within a few inches of where the rod wants to go, so use it: through the post or the beam, not into the trim or the fascia. Then accept that the panel has to come out of the wind sometimes, and hang it so it can be tied back in seconds rather than unhooked.

If you read one line on either product page before you buy, read the care line, because what a care line commits you to outlives the colour.

These two prices cannot be ranked against each other, and it is worth being blunt about why before either number appears.
The Half Price Drapes panel is a finished object in a fixed size. A single 50 by 84 inch panel is listed at $24.00, and the 96 inch length at $26.00. Both sit under a struck through $59.99 and a 60% off badge that is identical on all five colourways and on every length, which makes it a permanent anchor rather than a sale. We do not treat a standing discount as a discount.
The Two Pages price is a floor, and it is a floor you can never actually order. The listing opens at $99.00, but the header is a paid, compulsory step: the grommet page offers one header value, aluminium, at $45.00, so the real starting point on that page is $144.00 before a single inch is specified. Pleated headers run $60.00 for a pinch pleat and $75.00 for a French or triple pleat. Look at where that width threshold falls. The per inch rate more than doubles at 101 inches, and the fabric is 110 inches wide, so the inch that starts costing twice as much is within touching distance of the inch that starts adding a seam. Width is charged as the awkward thing it is.
The method, then, is not to compare the two figures. It is to count the panels your bays require, then read what each base covers: one finished panel in a fixed size on one side, a floor plus a header plus a per inch size charge on the other.
